Chinese Jian Ware Style Black Shagreen Pattern Pottery Teabowl with White Rim

About the Item

A very impressive and stylish Chinese black shagreen pattern glazed pottery tea bowl in the Jian Ware style believed to date from the 20th century or possibly earlier. The round tea bowl stands on a narrow round unglazed foot and is finely decorated in black with a very fine silver shagreen pattern to the inner and outer bowl with a cut and glazed white rim. The bowl is not marked but a very fine quality example. From a small collection of five similar quality Chinese glazed tea bowls. In good condition.
