Chinese Porcelain Plate with Dragon Decoration "Famille Verte" 18th Century
About the Item
Very beautiful porcelain plate of the green family with dragon decoration in the 18th century. The decoration is finely executed by hand, we see a green and golden dragon, with friezes with geometric designs.
Chinese ceramics are known for the porcelain they are invented, a tradition rich in many technical and stylistic innovations.
The "green family" in Chinese "yingcai" meaning "bright colors". The Ming Dynasty had already launched the production of porcelain composed of multiple colors. From that time on, a new type of polychromy appeared at the beginning of the Qing dynasty under the reign of Kangxi.
The name "green family" was given by Albert Jacquemart, a writer and historian of ceramic art in the 19th century.
