Large Antique Qing Dynasty Famille Rose Elaborately Hand-Painted Bowl or Basin

About the Item

This very large and substantial bowl or basin is signed by and unknown artist and originates from China, dating to approximately 1920 and done in the period Chinese Export style. The entire bowl is very ornately hand-painted in vibrant colors in the Famille Rose pattern. The inside and outside of the bowl is done in small vignettes depicting people, birds and butterflies which are bordered by very elaborate hand-painted bands of leaves and flowers. These panels done on the inside of the bowl are replicated in a similar manner on the outside. The wide rim of the bowl, measuring approximately one and a half inches, is decorated with a complimentary leaf and flower motif. The bowl is signed on the bottom, but we were unable to identify the artist.
