Pair of 18th Century Chinese Export Porcelain Mancerinas or Trembleuses

About the Item

A pair of Chinese export porcelain mancerinas or trembleuses likely made for the Spanish/Spanish Colonial market. Based on a silver form, the standing central ring was designed to support and steady a cup and originally used for serving chocolate. It is said this form was developed for the Viceroy of Mexico who suffered from Parkinsonism. These examples are hand enameled over the glaze and gilt and date from the mid-18th century.
