Large Antique Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Black Hawk in Cherry Blossom Tree Charge

About the Item

An antique Japanese late Meiji era decorative enamel over copper charger plate. The interior of the plate is adorned with a polychrome image of a hawk seated on a sakura tree branch, and a pair of birds in blossoming flowers made in the Cloisonne technique. The border features geometrical, floral, foliage and butterfly ornaments made in the same technique. The backside is decorated with a foliate scroll pattern. Unmarked.
