Large Japanese Bronze Incense Burner, Japan Meiji Period

About the Item

Exceptional incense burner in finely chiseled patinated bronze. The barrel with a rotating decoration of birds and branches is supported by three shishis. Two other Fô lions serve as a catch on the cover. The bottom of the barrel is marked with a partially visible hollow seal. Work very probably signed "Dai Nippon Kyoto Yoshida Zo" that is to say "Made by Yoshida from Kyoto in Japan".
