Japanese Asian Signed Two-Panel Folding Byobu Showa Screen Tales of the Genji

About the Item

A gorgeous, tall two-panel Japanese Byobu folding screen depicting scenes from the Classic Japanese 11th-century literary work "Tales of the Genji" by Murasaki Shikibu. The dark, rich colors, gold leaf, and beautiful hand-painted detail of the characters really make this an attractive and special work. What's quite unusual and special about this work is the depiction of three angel-like figures in the center. Something we have not seen before. Original decorative period brass hardware adds another wonderful touch. Signed in black ink and sealed in red by the artist. An attractive and engaging work. This piece is sure to stand out in almost any setting whether used as a divider or hung on the wall as a work of art or make for a great addition to any collection.
