About the Item

Heavenly Mid-Century Modern period Chinese export lacquered coromandel screen featuring four panels depicting celestial beauties in the sky with decorative ruyi clouds and moon. Solid wood panels lacquered with a black ground decorated with gilt images that have faded into a rich orange ember color. The reverse side is decorated in a parcel gilt faded image of dragons. The lower section of the screen four noble plants. Screen has a beautifully aged, distressed patina on the finish. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
