Andrianna Shamaris Nias Wood Single Panel

About the Item

We sourced a collection of beautiful antique panels from the island of Nias. Covered in dense tropical jungle, the islands of Nias are located off the western coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. Strong currents and rough seas have isolated the islands and people have developed unique cultures connected to the forest. This beautiful panel is made from an unknown tropical hardwood with lovely patina. We can add a base for a coffee table, console, dining table or desk. Even great as a head board. This panel was sourced in the spirit of wabi-sabi, a Japanese philosophy that beauty can be found in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. A beauty of things unconventional. It is the opposite of vulgarity. The costs of achieving this kind of minimalism are seemingly inconsistent with its mission of aesthetic humility. This kind of luxury is for a select few: The Emperor of Japan had a wabi garden. Wabi is for people who already have a lot. Own an Andrianna Shamaris original. Andrianna Shamaris.
