Framed Antique Embroidered Purse Qing Dynasty Provenance
About the Item
A beautiful antique embroidered purse from China, circa 19th century Qing dynasty, artistically displayed in a giltwood shadow box frame with contrast deep blue color cloth matts. Owned by a noble lady, this purse would be for precious personal use holding intimate items such as small jewelry or perfume powder. It features a double flying butterfly motif on the front and was expertly embroidered in Peking chain knots, satin and couching stitches using a wide range of colorful silk thread. A complementary cutout of a small embroidery was included in the framing to balance the overall design.
