17th Century Italian or Spanish Crest Sculpture

About the Item

Sandstone Italian or Spanish family crest depicting the mermaid at the bottom sounding the Horn which is the symbol of eloquence. It has a tower in the lower right corner which is the emblem of grandeur and of society, defence and individual fortitude. The shell for protection of providence, lion the emblem of undying courage, valiant warrior. The fox is the symbol for wit and wisdom. In the centre is the passion cross which represents the passion of Christ. It still has traces of blue color which stands for steadfastness, strength and loyalty. It is the most beautiful family crest we have ever seen. Great to use as a sculpture, architectural element above an exterior entrance or above a fireplace set in the wall.

    Minor structural damages. This is solid sandstone and very heavy. I would guess approx. 400lbs. We have it set on a dolly that will come with the piece for easier transport.
