Neoclassical Style Blue Majolica Planter by Minton

About the Item

Neoclassical style blue Majolica planter by Minton English, c. 1852 Measures: height 37.5cm, width 49cm, depth 42cm This superb planter is crafted in the Victorian manner from brightly coloured majolica. The planter features a spirally fluted blue body, which broadens from a narrow bottom to a flared top. The top edge of the planter is finished with a green egg-and-dark border, while the green foot is modelled as a foliate wreath. The body is adorned with two golden ram head handles, between of which is draped a white floral garland on either side. The underside is variously marked for Minton.
