Carlo Scarpa Venini Murano Signed Bollicine Gold Leaf Italian Art Glass Ashtray

About the Item

Beautiful antique Murano hand blown Sommerso clear bubbles in champagne or caramel color with gold flecks Italian art glass ashtray. Documented to Venini company, and created by master designer and architect Carlo Scarpa, circa 1930s. Published technique can be seen in several Venini books. Created in the "a Bollicine" technique, with thousands of little bubbles that create a lot of depth within the glass. It has a circular and flat folded over wide rim with 2 indents for cigarettes. It is profusely covered in gold leaf throughout. The bowl is clearly signed "Venini Murano" on the inverted pontil mark at the bottom of the piece. It also has remnants of an old oval paper label. Would make a great display piece on any desk, curio cabinet or side table. Unusual color and design. Made of thick and heavy glass. Art Deco, early Mid-century era. Collectors item! Measures 5 3/4" across x 1 3/8" high.
