About the Item
A long rare hand-carved wood bowl with an indented rim, from the "Oceana" series . Branded " Russell Wright " and retains its early paper label . Very well preserved original finish could use a cleaning .
The Oceana line began in 1935 when Wright designed a series of organic-form bowls, trays, and other objects in shapes taken from marine motifs like shells and seaweed . Klise Wood Working Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan produced the series . Made from a variety of solid American woods, these were decorative and tableware accessories carefully designed for the constraints of machine production yet keeping hand carved appearance.
