Ruskin Style Flambe Colored Drip Glazed Art Pottery Dish

About the Item

A very fine Arts & Crafts English drip glazed art pottery dish attributed to Ruskin and dating from the early part of the 20th Century. The dish is of simple wide rounded form and of shallow shape with a narrow round flat base, rounded edges and wide open recess. The body has been decorated in drip glazes which have run down and accumulated around the edge of the base. The inner dish is decorated in typical Ruskin turquoise glazes over the dripped colored glazes which are applied in tones of red, yellow, blue and green. The dish has a yellow glazed base and is not apparently marked. An exceptional example and a wonderful example of the early skills in using multi colored drip glazes. Provenance: Acquired from the British Art Market. In good condition with a small natural firing defect in the glaze to the lower side.
