Early 20th Century Folk Art "American Eagle" Silhouette Decorative Box

About the Item

Folk art decorative box with eagle motif in attractive red paint (ca. 1910-1920, USA). The hinged top opens to reveal a divided storage compartment, perfect for housing small accessories (jewelry, cufflinks, etc.). Imagery is created in a silhouette style with the red paint applied to the outline of each symbol, leaving it raw wood with only applied black painted accents. Painted initials "E L" present to the front of the box. Unique piece that can accessorize with other primitive/folk art decor or blend into any Deco or Modernist interior given its bold palette. Very good, vintage condition with only light paint loss/wear, as shown. Measures: H: 4" x L: 11.13" x D: 6.38".
