Small Round Swedish Original Painted Folk Art Box Dated 1792

About the Item

A small Swedish 18th century Folk Art box with original paint. The box is most likely used to keep jewelry and other precious items. Box is carved with inscription "ANNO 1792 DEN 27 SEPTEMBER KRD", which means translated from old Swedish language: "The year 1792, the 27 of September KRD" and with the owner initials KRD". The final "D" means daughter, which says that the box has belonged to a female, the daughter of some man with the initial letter K for the name and the initial letter R for the surname. In its original patina.
