19th Century Rosewood Miniature Sideboard Tea Caddy

About the Item

A Charming Late Regency Period Rosewood Tea Caddy, In The Form Of A Miniature Pedestal Sideboard, Having Hinged Lid Over Concealed Canisters And Central Mixing Bowl Hole Raised On Original Plinth Base (lacking key) (This rare, elegant and very collectable tea caddy takes the form of a miniature pedestal sideboard with a hinged lid over concealed tea canisters. Tea was of course a most precious commodity in the 18th and 19th centuries and the wealthy folk of the time were always looking for novel and ingenious way to lock their expensive tea leaves away from any potential wandering hands. Well what better way than to place it in an article that at first glance appears not to even be something which is used for the storage of tea. As you would expect the item is excellent quality throughout and constructed beautifully.)
