Rare English Mahogany Tea Caddy - Form of Chest of Drawers c.1880

About the Item

A very handsome and rare large Victorian tea caddy created in the form of a chest of drawers. Made from Mahogany, the drawers are obviously false with a satinwood front trimmed with Tulipwood cross banding; lovely detail with a series of brass escutcheons have been inlaid to the box. The top one is obviously the working escutcheon for the caddy but no key. The twin lidded compartments are revealed inside, for black and green tea. The lids and front of the chest are finished with turned bone knobs. Dating to c.1880, this stunning caddy remains in very good condition. 8 1/2" wide x 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" tall.
