Antique Crystal Bohemian Emerald Green Enamel Pair Overlaid Lusters Candlesticks

About the Item

A stylish example of a fine pair of bohemian emerald green ground gilt heightened white enamel hand cut full lead crystal lustres of outstanding quality and of good size proportions. Third quarter of the nineteenth century, possibly earlier. Each with unusual trumpet form supports with wavy rims, all ending on a circular gilt enameled base suspending nine crystal triangular prisms with spear shaped tips. Each circular bowl with stylish arcaded rims with rounded portrait hand paintings depicting Still Life of Summer flowers on white enameled ground Condition: Exceptional condition, for such early pieces, some point losses to prism tips. No wear to gilding, original wiring still present. Measures: height: (entire as shown on image) 12" (30.5cm). diameter: (top rims) 5.25” (13.5cm). Location: Dublin City, Ireland.

    An exceptionally fine example of an early 19th century pair of English Regency neoclassical single light full lead hand cut candlesticks lustres with crisp diamond cut bulbous columns above circular star cut bases, firmly attributed to John Blades of Five Ludgate Hill, London. First quarter of the 19th century. The waisted formed diamond cut crystal nozzles above a circular petal rimmed tray suspended with spear cut prisms each on single circular facet buttons. Condition: Superb condition for such early pieces, just a few flea bites at prism tips. Nice evidence of age wear at bases underneath, one circular tray has a hairline which is not easy to see, see image. Measures: Height: (entire as shown image one) 10" (25.5cm).
