Pair 19th Century French Cast Brass Altar Candlesticks
About the Item
Pair 19th century French cast brass Altar candlesticks were crafted with images of the Holy Family in glorious full relief on the three facades of the intricate bases. Jesus, Mary and Joseph appear in classic poses with each image adorning one of the three facades of the bases. Scrolled legs with acanthus corbels and lion's paw feet provide support, with the platform in turn supporting the turned and fluted shaft, designed with an urn base and capital above just underneath the generous urn-shaped bobeches and original sprickets. Traces of the original silver plating are still evident, only adding to the charm and mystique.
