Set of Pierre Forssell brass candleholders by Skultuna, Sweden, 1960s

About the Item

A set of four Scandinavian Modern candlesticks designed by the Swedish silversmith Pierre Forssell and produced by Skultuna Messingsbruk. Minimalist aesthetic with a dramatic appearance. These candlesticks can be used separately or placed together, forming sculptural installations. Signed on the bottom. Pierre Forssell (1925-2004) studied to become a silversmith and was hired as a teacher at the renowned art school Konstfack in Stockholm. In parallel with this, he was also active as a designer at companies like Gense and Skultuna, developing beautiful everyday objects well-suited for the Scandinavian market in the mid-century. He was active as a designer at Skultuna between 1955 and 1986 with the mission to renew the product range. Forssell is known for his minimalistic and clean aesthetic, as well as his choice of high-quality materials like brass, glass, and silver.
