18th century oak longcase clock by james draycot wells, circa 1790.
Excellent quality golden oak longcase clock. Second hand dial, date and baring the makers disc at the top.
Hood with decorative cornice and 3 gilt finials complete with glazed door. Replacement winding handle. Original pendulum and weights.
This clock has been professionally serviced and is in perfect working order.
Surface rubbing to clock face. Age splits to backboards, gilt loss to finials

Standing on a double plinth there is a panelled base and moulded trunk door. The pull forward hood is flanked by quarter columns with brass capitals. The case retains the original caddy top surmounted by two finials. The square dial has an applied chapter ring with cherubin spandrels. The dial centre is finely matted with an engraved date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial. The original blued steel hands appear to be original and are finely wrought and pierced.
