About the Item
Stunning pagoda top, Burr Walnut case with integral pillars and quarter pillars to the hood door.
Long trunk door with original escutcheon and iron strap hinges. Original silk backed brass fret to the pagoda top.
Arch brass dial with Dolphin spandrels, ringed winding holes and wheatear border engraving.
Finest quality London five pillar movement, all pillars ringed and finned, early rack striking on a large bell.
Eight day movement with original brass cased weights and original pendulum.
Samuel Guy: Born 1678. September 1692 apprenticed to John Andrews of Leadenhall Street, London until 1699.
Working until 1730 (ref: 'The early clockmakers of Great Britain' by Brian Loomes).
Elegant, slim case typical of the finest London casework.
Height: 7 ft 11.5 inches.
