Antique Porcupinefish Natural Taxidermy Specimen

About the Item

A rare and unusual antique marine natural taxidermy specimen of a Porcupinefish. Belonging to the Diodontidae family, Tetraodontiformes order, commonly referred to as blowfish, and closely related to the adorable inflating puffer fish, but with a secondary defense mechanism of sharp spines which radiate outward when inflated. This well preserved exotic specimen is stuffed and mounted rising over a simple wooden base. Makes for a fascinating decorative object, intriguing curiosity, oddity, and charming coastal decor. Dimensions: (approx) 5”w, 4”d, 4”h.
