Pair of Cold Painted Austrian Life Size Terracotta Pug Dogs, ca. 1890
About the Item
This amazing pair of life sized pugs are realistic and beautiful. We feel they are as good as one could hope for in a sculpture of this breed. They were meticulously detailed to look life- like. They were hand painted with the appropriate colors and the glass eyes really enhance the look. We feel they were done by the great Austrian sculptor Johann Maresch, who specialized in terracotta sculpture during the latter part of the 19th century. These are truly exceptional
We asked a local fellow to pose with one dog to show it's relative size. He is 6'2''.
