19th C. French Hand-Carved Wood Cherub Figures, Beautiful Decorative Objects
About the Item
A French pair of carved-wood cherub figures from the 19th century. This antique pair of wooden figurines from France have been hand-carved to depict a male child (or putto) with loosely-curled locks and chubby cheeks, fitted in robed attire, in bent knee position with one hand by waist and the other hand raised. The statues are on connected bases and though they have more flattened backsides, the carvings do continue, so that if necessary, they can be floated within a room, viewed from all angles. Please note that the wood has some losses at front top of one base, some old repairs, and later paint (see additional images for more information on condition). This pair of French putti figures from the 19th century would look beautiful displayed on a console table, fireplace mantel, or perhaps as a centerpiece on a large dining room table.
