Late 19th Century Baroque Style Carved Oak Figure of Diana the Huntress

About the Item

This figure carved to represent Diana the goddess of the hunt comes complete with bow. Carved in a Baroque revival style in France circa 1880 she may have once been a newel post finial. The carving has a large wooden section designed to set down into something and is now set onto a fitted paper-mache stand representing rock work. The carving is good and well modeled with many interesting details to the face, clothing, hair and form.
