The original Lladro porcelain was made by three brothers; Juan, José and Vicente Lladró, in 1953, at their home in Almàssera, in Valencia, Spain. By 1955, their artistic talents were creating elegantly sculpted figurines, and their interest and desire to establish their own porcelain company peaked in 1958 when they decided to make porcelain full-time.
