About the Item
The hand carved beaker-shaped wood drinking vessel was used to drink 'chicha' which was a beer-like beverage made from fermented corn. The weathered exterior showing incised geometric & figural motifs, accented with traces of original hand painted detail in polychromatic natural pigments.
Provenance: From the private collection of a highly prominent & internationally recognized anthropologist & Ph. D in Anthropology (Yale University), former Head of the Archaeology Division of the Museum of Man, and Executive Director of the Canadian Museum of Civilization.
