Very Old Chinese Antique Pottery Jar/Wabisabi Vase/excavated items

About the Item

If you want something special, we recommend purchasing the items we have selected. We sell items from various countries, with a focus on carefully selected old Japanese items. We've seen tens of thousands of items so far. Taking advantage of our experience, we only display carefully selected items here. We are able to do this because we have a long experience. This is a very old pottery jar excavated in China. The surface has deteriorated like this because it was buried in the soil. It has a cool expression that makes you feel very wabi-sabi. Hard earthenware made before the 9th century. Before about 2200, the temperature of kilns was low and soft pottery was the main product, but since that time kilns have become more airtight and firing temperatures have also increased, making it possible to fire at temperatures of over 1000 degrees. As a characteristic of this period, unglazed yakishime pottery was made all over China and produced as everyday containers. The color is finished in ash because it is baked with a reduction flame. Another feature is the fine pattern on the surface. This pattern is created by tapping the surface of the pottery. In Japan, this kind of pottery is called "Inmon-Koto" (meaning hard pottery with a pattern). Also, because it is baked hard, it makes a high-pitched sound like a metallic sound when tapped with a finger. Because this kind of pottery is hard, it is excavated in a relatively well-preserved state. This pottery also has a few small chips at the tip, but other than that there is no damage and it can be said to be in very good condition. It is believed that this vase was made about 2,200 years ago, during a time when China had many countries and was unified into the Han state. As a reference, I have attached a photo of a pot with a hammered pattern and a photo of a pot with a similar shape to this one. I filled it with water and left it for half a day, but there was no leakage. Please be careful as water may ooze out if you leave it in water for a long period of time. Weight: 1.9kg Recommended item.
