1870s French Pair of Yellow Blue Green Red White Majolica Jardinières / Planters

About the Item

1872-1876, rare pair of fun French faience cachepots with provenance: the manoir "La Dijonnerie" near Bourges, is a creation by a particular Nevers factory that worked only 4 years, its work particularly distinguished by comical grotesque interpretations. This pair of plant holders on white background is extensively decorated à petit feu (double firing) with polychrome detailed grotesque figures, in vivid colors, yellow, green, blue, red, among flowering branches. The sides are embellished with yellow and black satyr heads. Signed.
