Antique French Toleware Cachepot or Planter Painted with a Don Quixote Scene

About the Item

A fine antique Toleware cachepot or planter. Decorated to both sides with a scene of Don Quixote and his companion Sancho riding atop a horse and donkey respectively With two small curved handles, one of which appears to have been repaired. There is significant loss throughout to the painted decoration (especially to the top and base). Simply a wonderful French Toleware planter! Date: Early 20th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall fair, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There is an old repair to one handle. There is significant loss throughout to the painted decoration (especially to the top and base), some darkening and oxidation to the paint, and some light bends here & there. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Marks: Unmarked Measurements: Height: ca. 4 1/2 in. Width: ca. 8 1/2 in.
