Sculptural Ceramic Vessel with Lid by Dutch Schalling
About the Item
Organic free form vessel with lid by Willem Schalling. This vessel is glazed in deep blue, with an over glaze in chalk white aplied in vertical strikes.
Schalling made a number of unique hand formed vases from the late 1950's till the 1980's. He lived and worked in Amsterdam and was an assistant to the sculptor Hildo Krop who executed ornamental details for bridges and houses during the 1930-1940's and contributed to the Amsterdam School of Architecture.
