Antique Staffordshire Pottery Flat Back Figurine of a Gypsy Camp with Campfire

About the Item

A fine antique Staffordshire pottery figural flat back spill vase. In the form of a gypsy family with livestock gathered around a cooking fire in a forest. Simply a rare and wonderful Staffordshire pottery figurine! Date: 19th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall fair, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: The daughter has wear to the painted decoration throughout (including to her eyes). There is fine crazing with staining throughout. The top of the figure has a flake to the 'spill vase' opening and a tight hairline, and there are expected spots of loss in the bocage decoration and a few firing flaws throughout. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Marks: Faintly marked to the base with barely legible numbers that we believe read 74 / 20 / 201 Measurements: Height: ca. 8 7/8 in. Width: ca. 6 1/4 in.
