Carstens West German Handled Art Pottery Vase with Cockerels
About the Item
Beautiful hand thrown West German glazed handled vase decorated with cockerels by Carstens Tönnishof and dating from around 1965. Carstens are considered to be one of the finest producers of West German pottery from the mid-century era. This funnel top vase stands on a narrow rounded foot with a wide rounded body applied with a band of cockerels in black on a mottled mustard yellow ground. The vase has a rounded strap like handle applied to the side and has incised marks 459/77 to the base.
A good example in good condition.
