French Art Deco Dinanderie Metalware Vase Signed George

About the Item

A wonderful French Art Deco dinanderie vase in brass with silver metal incrustation. The brass body is cut where the silver design will be laid into the champleve sections and then subjected to heat to fuse the metals. The term dinanderie comes from the Flemish town Dinant where brassware objects were made from the Middle Ages on. The vase, sporting whimsical monkeys front and back is signed (in silver metal) "George" and on the base "Jacques Douau Editions d'Art, Fabrication Francaise, Made in France" and measures 10 1/2" high and 6" across.
