Peruvian Antique Earthenware / 9th to 10th Century / Human Mask / Wari Culture
About the Item
This is a rare item owned by a Japanese collector.
This is believed to have been made around the 9th or 10th century in Peru.
In the Andean civilization, before the Inca Empire began, a wide variety of ethnic groups and a wide variety of cultures were intricately intertwined with repeated prosperity and decline.
This is considered to be the pottery of the Wari culture, a culture that flourished in the coastal and highlands of Peru.
They made pottery of various shapes and colors.
For example, there are earthenware with mythological motifs.
The vases that appear in the art books of the Andean civilization are based on mythology. Please see the reference photos.
Perhaps this item was also made with mythology as a motif.
It is thought that it was originally painted in some way, but since it was buried in the soil, the coloring has deteriorated and it is in the current state.
There is a small chip on the tip of the mouth, but there are no other scratches and it is in very good condition.
A dedicated storage wooden box is also included.
It's hard to get in Japan, so it was owned by a collector.
We offer reasonable prices because we want many people to know the charm of this time.
How about decorating your room as part of the interior?
It is recommended.
