Pr Ormolu Mtd French Sevres Biscuit & Porcelain Cobalt Blue Ground Seasons Vases

About the Item

An elaborate and monumental pair of 19th century Ormolu Mounted French Sevres Porcelain and biscuit porcelain cobalt blue ground "Four Seasons" vases. This pair of vases are extremely well made and executed by the finest French Porcelain Company Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres. Of amphora form, the bodies are decorated in a cobalt blue ground with 24K gilt hand-painted circles throughout the ground. Each biscuit porcelain medallion demonstrates a different season with putties as the center-fold of the subject. Each medallion is bordered with a 24k gold painted porcelain wreath. The bottom border is decorated with a swirling acanthus leaf pattern and finished in 24k gold on a white ground border. The top border is decorated in a circular pattern also in 24k gilt decoration on a white ground. The base is decorated in applied acanthus leaves finished in 24k gold with white veins. The waisted base is decorated with a white and gold swirling pattern on a blue and gold Sevres design ground. Each vase is decorated with a pair of satyr handles finished in 24k gilt decoration. Each top is decorated with a swirling white and gold finish and topped with a gilt acorn porcelain finial. The vases are resting on ormolu mounts with a circular wreath base and a bottom square plinth with cut-corners. The bases are hand-chased and hand-chiseled and are of the finest quality. These vases are in pristine condition with no restoration. France, Circa: 19th Century Dimensions: 30 inches high 15 inches wide 10.5 inches deep.

    A fantastic quality pair of Russian Empire cobalt blue and gold ground swan handle porcelain vases. Each piece is of Amphora form with a gorgeous 24K gold matted, burnished, and shiny front and backside decoration.
