Stunning Dutch Arts and Crafts Hand Painted W. Butterflies Vase by J. Mijnlieff

About the Item

Aesthetically perfect Arts and Crafts vase with stylized butterflies and lily flowers. If you are a lover and collector of fine art in general and of the best Arts and Crafts antiques in particular then this museum worthy vase from the late 1800s could be gracing your home soon. This unique vase (handpainted by J. Mijnlieff for Holland Utrecht) too was part of the small collection of top quality ceramics that we very recently acquired. This mint condition 1890's vase comes with a stunning decor of hand-painted, stylized butterflies and lilies and she truly is a rare find and an upgrade for even the most serious of collectors and enthousiasts. Because of the amazing transformation they go through in becoming a butterfly these beautiful creatures in the Arts and Crafts era have been a source of inspiration for and a loved subject matter of many great artists. These wonderful to look at creatures besides several others, are THE symbol for transformation and rebirth. Famous fayence painter J. Mijnlieff hand-painted this stunning work of art for top ceramics maker 'Holland Utrecht' and both the stylized butterflies and lillies AND the amazing colors came out just perfect. Not only was there hardly any room for error when painting such a vase, these master fayence painters also had to take all the roundings into account when painting these already difficult scenes. Painting something in the right proportions on a flat surface already is extremely difficult for most, but master painters like J. Mijnlieff clearly took painting and creating stylized butterflies and lillies to the next level. Those with a good eye may have immediately noticed that even the 'ears' of this museum worthy Arts and Crafts vase are designed and excecuted in the shape of butterfly wings. For this reason, a unique piece like this here in Europe also is referred to as a 'Gesamtkunstwerk'. Finally, there are no chips, cracks or restaurations and it comes with the 'slightly moved' Holland Utrecht maker's mark on the bottom. This museum worthy antique really is in excellent condition and great value for money. She will look great, no matter where you decide to have her on display. So if you like to surround yourself with truly beautiful and meaningful antiques (possibly after having gone through a life changing transformation yourself) then maybe you should be the next custodian of this mint, one of a kind and meaningful antique. Our fair price again includes perfect packing and also worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days. Maximum height x width (with the ears) x depth: 11.7 x 9.3 x 8.5 inches.
