Danish Midcentury Tenera Punch Bowl by Grete Helland Hansen for Royal Copenhagen

About the Item

Danish Midcentury Tenera punch bowl by Grete Helland Hansen for Royal Copenhagen Beautiful punch bowl complete with eight matching cups made of stoneware and grey glazed ceramic produced by Royal Copenhagen. The bowl and cups are part of the famous Tenera line. Nils Thorsson designed this series in the 1960’s while Artistic Director of Royal Copenhagen-Aluminia. Thorsson designed most of the shapes for this range, and the group of Artists and Designers under him each designed their own patterns and motifs. The berry decor for this bowl and cups were designed by artist Grete Helland Hansen. Bowls and cups are marked with the Royal Copenhagen hallmark and the artists’ signature GHH. Grete Helland-Hansen Nash (1939-1999) was born in Oslo, Norway. After studying at the National Academy of Arts, she worked at the Aluminia Factory in Copenhagen and was part of a group of young female potters who created the Tenera range. In 1966 she worked in the USA, where she developed her use of the Japanese raku technique.
