Pair of Georgian Anglo-Irish Cut Glass Spirit Decanters & Silver Plated Caddy

About the Item

A very handsome pair of early 19th century cut glass spirit decanters, both greyish glass bodies of barrel shape, decorated with a broad band of wheel-cut diamond shaped facets, rising to multi-ringed necks & fitted with their original radial cut stoppers, the undersides of each base engraved with star-cut motifs. Both fitted within a later, associated silver plated caddy mounted on ball feet. The height of the caddy measures 9" high, both decanters measure 7" high. Decanters with these diminutive proportions were used specifically for distilled spirits such as brandy, rum or gin as opposed to port or still wines.
