Very Good Pair of William IV Cut Glass Spirit Decanters, England circa 1835

About the Item

Both ovoid glass bodies exhibiting a slight greyish hue that is consistent with the period, decorated with scalloped & diamond cut detail, rising to faceted ringed necks fitted with their original dedicated and numbered mushroom stoppers, the undersides of their bases showing incised sunburst detail. Decanters of these relatively diminutive proportions were specifically intended for distilled spirits such as brandy, rum or gin as opposed to port or still wines.
