Ron Myers, Ceramic Charger Depicting a Reclining Nude, United States, circa 1980

About the Item

This exquisite glazed ceramic charger features a picture of a reclining nude, a clever recreation of a western subject in new terms appropriate to a work situated in its time and place. Figured roughly, and featured at the center of a decorative object (rather than a canvas), the nude seems almost as if tumbling into its center, a dark setting akin to negative space.

Nice example of Copier's expertise in controlled bubble decoration. Cobalt blue bubble inclusions create a lunar-like terrain throughout this shallow bowl on applied pedestal base. • Danese Milano Oh Signore Fruit Bowl in Iron by Ron Gilad
    By Danese Milano, Ron Gilad
    Located in Hicksville, NY
Oh Signore! Is a table centrepiece. The symbol of the cross is reworked and reinterpreted by assembling pieces of an iron beam to form the shape of a cross. Ron Gilad is an Israeli designer who was born in Tel Aviv in 1972. He is fascinated by the philosophy of everyday objects. Although his design process itself is rigorous, his playful and emotional approach captures a sense of the absurd, explores the theme of disproportions and reflects his penchant for ironically challenging the preconceived meanings of things. Ron Gilad’s mission as artistic director of Danese Milano is to bring classic forms up to date and to reinterpret often overlooked household items to give them a whole new lease of life.
