Gucci Italy, a rare sterling silver, enamel, and marble trophy cup, C. 1970 With double GG insignia at bottom and stamped 'GUCCI ITALY 925' along base. Measures: 10" high x 6" wide x 5" deep Very good condition. Ready to place. Due to the item's age do not expect items to be in perfect condition and I may not describe every little scratch or spot. Please inquire if you have any doubts. I will be more than willing to give you additional information. This centerpiece is made of exquisite craftsmanship and quality. The silvered bronze figures and the chasing on the base is spectacular. With standing figures of a young hunter, a friar and a fish monger with a spaniel and game at their feet, mounted with plaques with 1859 and 1941 inscriptions The inscriptions read: "Presented to William Johnson Esq. as a token of respect & esteem by the workpeople in the employ of Messrs Richard Johnson & Brother, Manchester, January 28, 1859", and "Worshipful Company of Tin Plate Workers, Alias Wire Workers of the City of London, Presented by Arthur Laurence Johnson M.A., Grandson of William Johnson, both Wire Workers, with his Daughter Eleanor Morton Johnson, a Freeman of the Company, to commemorate his Mastership 1941-42."     A magnificent, fine and impressive, large antique Edwardian English sterling silver cup & cover; an addition to our antique presentation silverware collection. This magnificent and large antique Edwardian sterling silver presentation cup and cover has a Campania shaped form onto a circular spreading pedestal foot. The lower bulbous portion of the silver cup is encircled with chased fluted ornamentation. Either side of the plain upper portion of the body of this cup is embellished with an exceptional and large applied ribbon tied laurel branch wreath, replicating the border of a classic cartouche. This impressive Edwardian presentation cup retains the impressive, original hallmarked push fit cover surmounted with an exceptional, fine and impressive cast sterling silver overlapping leaf and bud style finial. The rim of this substantial cover is encompassed with an impressive applied egg and dart decorated border. This antique cup and cover is fitted with two very impressive cast sterling silver handles modelled in the form of conjoined snakes, above a figural mask and Caduceus. The pedestal is encompassed with a shaped alternating leaf decorated knop to the upper portion in junction with the body. The circular domed spreading foot is encircled with a further band of chased fluted ornamentation. Such large examples are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
