Chinese Imari Porcelain Kangxi Plates set of 6 in blue and orange signed

About the Item

Set of six Chinese export orange and blue imari porcelain plates. (Thought to be from the Kangxi period.) This set of plates feature decorative hand-painted designs in blue, orange and red on a white background. The sides are scalloped and painted in a blue glaze. The design features a circular medallion in the center accented with scenes of orange flowers and blue leaves. From the center, 4 orange designs seem to sprout to the edges of the plates. Edges are lined with blue concentric circles, and scalloped edges. These imari plates are unique, in that they also feature designs at the underside. In blue, are lovely glazed details on a porcelain white background. These plates have different shaped reign marks among the 6 pieces. The feet on the plates show wear from age. A bit of scrubbing pulls off the grit. We've decided to leave the feet as is, as it adds charm in our opinion. How We Would Style Them: We'd love to see these beauties used as chargers, incorporated into a table setting on a beautiful dining or breakfast table. We suggest a simple sisal placemat, these plates used as chargers, a white monogramed linen table napkin and silver utensils. (Side note on table napkins… Did you know they come in two sizes? The smaller versions are for breakfast or less formal occasions. The larger ones are for formal occasions or for dinner. Or as we say in the south, “supper”. And of course crystal glassware. Reign marks are written in a horizontal line that is read from right to left, as is the case in these plates.
