First Period Doctor Wall Worcester Porcelain Sparrow-beak Jug, English Ca 1775
About the Item
This is a good and early porcelain Worcester sparrow-beak milk jug, decorated in the blue printed "Bandstand" pattern and made in Worcester's First, Doctor Wall period, circa 1770-1780.
The jug is made from Soft Paste porcelain and has isolated areas containing tiny peppery pinpricks within the glaze which is a characteristic of Worcester soft paste porcelain of this period.
The jug is decorated in the printed cobalt blue " Bandstand" pattern with additional hand gilded highlights to the rim, outer handle and above the base rim.
The jug is marked to the base with one of Worcester's mock Chinese blue printed marks..
