About the Item
French Art Nouveau pottery blue green vase Denbac ceramic potmic pot
An attractive small French art pottery vase of flaring-neck shape supported by four miniature buttresses, covered with a flowing glaze of soft texture and subtle color, streaked and flecked with brown and grey blue over a pale olive green ground. Signed with the inscribed ‘Denbac’ mark, and the number 174, it dates from the period from 1911 through to the 1920s. This is the mark of the well-known Denbac firm of Vierzon in France, established by the ceramic artist Rene Denert in partnership with Rene-Louis Balichon by 1911. The vase also bears an original and rare paper price label printed ‘Le Pavillon D’Antin, Paris’. Denbac had a large network of retail outlets, selling to several large fashionable stores in Paris, such as Printemps, Galleries Lafayette, and, as in this case, Le Pavillon D’Antin, a shop selling perfumes and gifts at 25 Boulevard Haussmann near the Opera in Paris. Vase in perfect condition.
Please note that the flash photography used may make the colors appear slightly brighter or richer than they are in real life. This is mentioned for transparency. What can be certain is that the piece is breathtaking in both.
