Very large and rare Goldscheider Vienna ceramic figurine:
Art Déco execution of an Art Nouveau design around 1909: young woman as the personification of beauty, with hair tied at the nape of the neck, head tilted to the side and looking down, covering the nakedness of her shapely body only at the legs with a large cloth.
Sparse painting in black and accents in dark blue, on a black rectangular base.
Designed by Ernst Seger (1868 - 1939), German sculptor and medalist, studied at the art school in Breslau and in the Rodin studio in Paris, from 1894 as a sculptor in Berlin.
Model 3697 was created circa 1909, execution around 1920

The figure is based on a black, round base with the artist's signature 'Kostial' on the top next to the figure. The dancer and actress Lucy Kieselhausen (1897 - 1926) was a student of Grete Wiesenthal and was a successful German dancer at the beginning of the 20th century. Lucy Kieselhausen appeared in three silent films: 'Thousand and one Woman' (18), 'The Seventh Great Power' and 'Earth Spirit'. In addition to her dancing activities, Lucy Kieselhausen also wrote the dance drama 'Salambo', which was set to music by Heinz Tiessen.
