About the Item
This is a beautiful Teapot made by Mason's Ironstone during the mid-19th century, when Mason's was owned by Ashworth Brothers, circa 1870.
It has a Chinoiserie pattern called "Old Japan Vase", number B3194, with additional hand gilding.
The base is unmarked but a teapot in the same shape is shown on Page 28 of the Samlesbury Hall Exhibition Sale catalogue of 1987, with the pattern illustrated on a plate in the same catalogue, page 39.
This is a good example of an English ironstone pottery Tea Pot, for the Mason's Ironstone or tea pot collector alike.
